How to Grow Beautiful Roses

Roses are one the most beloved of all landscape plants. But often people have trouble maintaining the beauty of these plants. A few simple tips can help.

• First, plan carefully which rose and where. There are roses that are suited for climbing all over the house, roses that can be hedges, tree roses and even delicate miniature roses. Consult your local nursery or contact the American Rose Society for more information.
• Roses like sun so find a spot that gets about 6 hours of sun a day.
• Roses like water, water deeply
• Roses like compost and mulch
• Roses do not like getting their leaves wet
• Roses need to be pruned to remove dead spent canes once a year
• Protect with deep mulch during winter months.
